12/14/2009 - PT Sweeps
North Hills
Not sure if our boys felt this
game was going to go as smoothly as their first meeting with the Indians of
North Hills, but the feeling didn’t last long when the two faced off at Island
Sports Center on December 14th. A determined North Hills team put an
early scare into the PT JV squad and raced to early 2-0 lead.
To their credit, PT answered the
call and eventually evened things up midway thru the second period. First, when
Freshman Trevor Recktenwald (#83) tapped in a centering feed by Junior Mike
Roberts (#34). Next, when Sophomore Jason Spirer (#82) collected Trevor’s
rebound and scored from a bad angle down by the goal line. Junior Hayden Edmunds
(#99) registered the second assist.
NH regained the lead, but it was
short lived as PT appeared determined to take it hard to the net and put this
one away. First, it was Hayden Edmunds who scored after multiple cracks of
Sophomore TJ Skraitz’s (#27) rebound on the power play. Next, Trevor Recktenwald
scored after banging away at Sophomore Mitch Stowers (#52) rebound left in
paint. Lastly, Mitch Stowers closed out the scoring when he put home a flurry of
shots from close range. Trevor Recktenwald and Junior Randy Rigatti (#73) got
the helpers.
Freshman goalie Stephen Sepich
(#31) kept his composure early and got stronger as the game went on. Stephen
turned away 14 of 17 shots and earned PT’s 7th win of the season.
12/8/2009 - PT vs. CM,
Part Deux
The JV squad, looking to avenge
their only loss of the season, took to the ice to close out the regular season
series against Canon McMillan on December 8th at Southpointe. The
teams did not disappoint and treated the PT faithful to an exciting, back and
forth contest the entire game.
PT landed the first punch when
they scored on the power play at 6:51 of the first period. The Indian set up
shop in the o-zone and had good puck movement when Sophomore Jacob Brown took a
cross ice feed and fired a rocket past the CM netminder from the left point.
Sophomore David Rex (#28) and Freshman Trevor Recktenwald were credited with the
assists.
The teams traded jabs through the
rest of the first and well into second when CM connected with their first goal
of the night at 3:24 of the second period. PT quickly countered when David Rex
found Trevor Recktenwald down low in front of the net and he slammed the puck
firmly into the 4 x 6.
A big “W” looked to be in hand
until CM intercepted a late clearing attempt and scored with 1:02 remaining in
the game. PT tried to respond, but the clock wound down and the Indians had to
settle for a hard fought 2-2 tie.
Eighth Grader Brian Baker (#29)
had a strong performance in net and turned away 12 of 14 shots he faced tonight
11/25/2009 -

gathered in one spot so close to Thanksgiving since the Mayflower landed at
Plymouth Rock. Our PT Indians hosted the Indians from North Hills and cruised to

the night.

11/19/2009 - Indians edge Blue
Devils, win 4-3
It wasn’t always pretty, but they
got the job done. PT JV registered their 5th straight win to raise their record
to 5-1 when they outlasted the Blue Devils on November 19th at Mt.
Lebo.
Sophomore David Rex (#28) got
thing started when he found a seam thru the defenders and rifled a shot upstairs
to score on the power play. Sophomores Davan Groom (#91) and Jason Spirer (#82)
registered assists on the goal. Our boys found themselves in trouble when they
were shorthanded by two late in the first period, but David and Davan put on a
forechecking clinic capped when Davan pounced on a Mt. Lebo turnover and David
deposited it in the net on the backhand. Davan was credited with his second
assist of the night.
PT kept rolling when Freshman
Kevin Hnat (#68) scored his 1st of the season with a nice deke move
in front of the net. Sophomore TJ Skraitz (#27) was credited with the set-up.
The Indians looked poised to run away with the game, but momentum shifted and
the Blue Devils got back in the game with the next two scores.
Jason Spirer put PT back up by
two when his hard wrist shot from the point found the back of the net at 8:22 of
the third. David Rex got the helper and a well earned 3-pt. night. Mt Lebo
responded within 30 seconds, but their comeback attempt eventually fell short.
Eighth Grader Jesse Borne (#33)
played strong in net while stopping 13 of the 16 shot he faced while preserving
the 4-3 win.
11/16/2009 - Indians clip Eagle’s wings
PT returned to Ice
Castle ice rink on November 16th to take on the Eagles of South Park.
The Indians, looking to extend their 3 game win streak, had an almost 6:1
advantage in shots as they jumped out to early lead and dominated in every
aspect of the game. PT proved to be too much for the overmatched Eagles as they
cruised to 10-0 decision.

11/9/2009 - PT pounces on Panthers
The Indians JV squad traveled north up route 19 to square
off against the always tough USC Panthers at Ice Castle on November 19th.
PT was looking good in their road black and red uniforms and were hitting on all
cylinders.
Freshman Trevor Recktenwald (#83) scored his first of the
season when he converted on the power play midway thru the 1st
period. Junior Hayden Edmunds (#99) and Sophomore Jason Spirer (#82) were
credited with the helpers on the play. Junior Mike Roberts (#34) also got his
first tally of the season when he pounced on a PT shot that was in blue paint
behind the Panther goalie. Sophomore Mitch Stowers (#52) and Hayden Edmunds got
the assists.
PT kept their foot on accelerator when Sophomore David Rex
(#28) scored quickly from a Trevor Recktenwald face-off win. For emphasis, PT’s
first line put on a display of offensive zone puck control; capped when
Sophomore Davan Groom (#91) closed out the scoring with contributions from David
Rex and Trevor Recktenwald.
Eighth grader Brian Baker (#29) was stellar in net while
recording PT’s second shutout of the season. He turned away all 24 shots that
USC threw his way.
11/6/2009 - PT JV out-duels Spartans
Peters Township JV hosted the Montour Spartans at
Southpointe ice rink on November 9th. PT, hungry for another win,
came out with a strong effort and looked to have brought their A game to the
contest.
Sophomore Mitch Stowers (#52) registered PT’s first goal of
the night when he followed up Sophomore Davan Groom’s (#91) breakaway and found
a home for the juicy rebound at 4:41 of the 1st period.
Sophomore David Rex (#28) was rewarded for his gritty
special teams efforts when he outworked the Spartans during a late first period
penalty kill. David forced a turnover in the neutral zone and scored unassisted
for the eventual game winner.
Mitch Stowers scored again when he cleaned up another Davan
Groom rebound left in the paint in heavy traffic.
Eighth grade goalie Jesse Borne (#33) had a strong game
turning aside 14 of the 15 shots he faced from the Spartans. He lost his shutout
bid, when a late second period power play goal just barely beat the clock.
10/28/2009 - PT blanks Wheeling Central
The JV squad traveled to WesBanco arena to square off
against the Maroon Knights of Wheeling Central on October 28th. PT
proved to be too much as they came away with an impressive 5-0 win and evened
their record to 1-1 on the young season.
Sophomore Davan Groom (#91) got thing started when he
turned on the jets and scored on an unassisted rush up the ice and easily beat
the WC netminder. Sophomore Jacob Brown (#13) scored 34 seconds later when he
finished on a pass from freshman Mihir Jadhav (#24).
Sophomore Mitch Stowers (#52) scored from the doorstep when
he was setup by some excellent cycling work by Sophomore David Rex and Davan
Groom. Davan Groom and Mihir Jadhav were credited with their second assists on
the night when Mitch Stowers found the loose puck in front and deposited it in
the net.
Sophomore Jason Spirer (#82) closed out the scoring when he
rifled home a rebound from the slot. Junior RJ Rigatti was credited with the

10/20/2009 - PT JV Open Regular Season against Canon Mac
The Indians, led by Head Coach Clay Shell, opened their
2009/2010 regular season against their cross town rival Big Macs on October 20th
at Southpointe. The team has many new faces and hopes to build on last year’s
successful campaign.
PT came out strong and controlled play most of the might,
but fell behind 2-0 early in the second period. The Indians outshot their
opponent 23-14 on the night, but had difficulty generating quality scoring
chances.
Sophomore David Rex (#28) got PT on the board when he
banged in a centering pass from behind the goal line at 2:22 of the second
period. Freshman Kevin Hnat (#68) was rewarded with the 1st assist
and Sophomore Jacob Brown (#13) was credited with the 2nd assist.
